A little about how I work

I
think of us as organic plants, or insects, in a wild garden. We live in an ecosystem that can be robust when strong, but weakened when vulnerable and exposed to harsh elements. There are times when we need support so that we can live well in the larger ecosystem. I am here to attend to such  needs and vulnerability, without blame or judgement. It is then that our garden is better able to flourish.

I am influenced by Narrative Therapy. This is a form of therapy that helps to separate a person from a problem. It is a collaborative way of working,  enquiring about problems and how they have affected us, and how structural power has sometimes colluded to weaken our voice .

We explore how we have come to believe certain things and ways in which these beliefs have taken root within us, colonising our minds. I work at helping you find a voice that is more able to speak to who you are and what you value.

I work with people who come to me for many reasons:

- depression
- work challenges
-family problems
-life trauma
- struggling relationships
- anxiety

I do not specialise in any one area or theory, but am informed by many. To use Walt Whitmans' phrase:  'I am a multitude and I contradict myself'.  We are all part of a larger system that is full of anomalies and contradictions.

I walk with you, act as a witness and a co-author of new chapters in life.  I ask questions that help us collaboratively work on some of these challenges that at times can feel insurmountable.

My mantra for being human is:-

'Wherever I am I can start now
                   I can start with fear
                   I can start with pain
                   I can start with doubt
                                  and
I can start with my hands shaking
                   and with a trembling voice.
